Portuguese food has location to thank for its uniqueness – bordering the Iberian pensinsula but looking over to the Atlantic. This means plenty of seafood, especially salt cod and shellfish, to go with the spicing and flavours borrowed from the North African peninsula below. The Portuguese consume more seafood than anyone else in Europe – so you and your team should probably follow suit. Just mind the smell.
The other side of Portugal can be seen in the infamous, Instaready pasteis de nata – crisp pastry, buttery custard and a waft of nutmeg. Just try not to eat 10 this time.
